Mr. Smith received his law degree from Cornell Law School in 1990 after attending and graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo with High Honors.
With 27 years experience, Mr. Smith has dedicated his practice to civil litigation, handling personal injury and business related disputes in the courts of New York and other states.
Prior to founding his own firm, Mr. Smith was a partner in a major law firm in Western New York, Woods Oviatt Gilma, LLP, for over 15 years, where he specialized in litigation involving severe injuries. While practicing at a large firm Mr. Smith also represented numerous clients of the firm in litigation relating to their businesses including breach of contract, partnership and shareholder disputes.
Mr. Smith has tried cases throughout the State of New York and in other states as well.) In addition to being admitted to the New York State Bar, he is admitted in the Western, Eastern, Southern, and Northern United States District Courts of New York and is able to represent people and businesses in federal cases in every county in New York State.
He has appeared in the United States Bankruptcy Court and represented workers before the National Labor Relations Board. He has also represented clients before administrative agencies such as the New York State Department of Labor, the New York Department of Motor Vehicles and the New York Workers’ Compensation Board. He was also previously admitted in the State of New Hampshire, and the State of Maine, pro hac vice.
Mr. Smith has received the prestigious 40 under 40 Award from the Rochester Business Journal and has been active in numerous charitable causes. In his spare time Mr. Smith has been active in coaching and supporting Rochester Youth Hockey and Pittsford Little League baseball.
Mr. Smith lives and maintains his office in the city of Rochester.
